Argao Town,Cebu Province,Philippines
My mother was born before WWII to one of the prominent families from this quiet town Argao. She was the fourth child of eleven so that I had a grand and wonderful memory growing up amongst twenty-eight grandchildren. The grand ancestral house was by the sea, right in the middle of seemingly unendless seashores with only two or three neighbors but miles apart as far as I could recall. There was the Library where Grandpa types most of the time that I thought he didn't know how to handwrite.A huge black upright piano where my Aunt would play while we dance.A violin we were not to touch.A Big Ben so scary at night especially when it strikes at midnight. My mother's bicycle and roller skates when she was young still functional.Huge veranda overlooking Grandmas garden of exotic plants.Beyond is the horizon all our own from sunrise to sunset. Church was Sunday mornings and Wednesday afternoons where all of us dressed up with matching colors from the ribbons on our head down to our shoes.Breakfast was 7AM by 9AM what a crowd we all are swimming to our hearts delight till we hear the bell calling us for lunch.Siesta follows then tea time then to the playgrounds.Today, we crave for the typical delightful indulgence our Grandma lovingly lavished us. The beach have so many stories to tell especially the night games of" hide and seek" by the beach.Yes, the pleasures we treasure beyond measure!
TROPICAL FRUITS
Fruits in the Tropics have the unique certain delicious taste because of the equal proportion they get from the rain and the sun the whole year round. The climate is very desirable" not too hot not too cold," so that their blooms and their growth steadily develop throughout the year unhampered. The equal supply of the mountain and sea breezes as well as the equal twelve hours day and night make the concoction perfect! No wonder so many would strive to visit this Island Paradise to taste the blissful life in the Tropics.
