Modern Technology

My wife's mother, who is in her nineties, lives in sheltered housing not far from us. She manages very well, but sometimes modern technology confuses her. One day she phoned to say that despite pressing the button on the remote control several times, the TV would not turn off. And for reasons she couldn't understand, she kept falling out of her chair. Puzzled, my wife and I decided to visit her to see what was going on. Sitting in her electric recliner, she gave us a demonstration. But rather than picking up the TV remote, she pointed her chair's controller at the screen and pressed one of the buttons, rising a little each time, until the chair reached its full height and gently tipped her out.
